Time to split…. January 24, 2009
Posted by Terry Patterson in : Uncategorized , add a comment…It’s time to separate the professional from the personal. I’m having a professional blog set up at …. (TBC) and will continue blogging to friends old and new on my merina site.
Learning points
Professional life and personal life don’t sit easily together on a public blog.
More learning points to come I am sure after our Web2 conference….
Botched and frogged! January 23, 2009
Posted by Terry Patterson in : social Knitworking , add a commentAfter a lovely evening at Leon’s with the London S+B clan, I came home to find a miscounted row. A couple of attempts to undo back as far as the error- doomed. The whole complex creation is now frogged and rewound into a skein.
Learning points
Count off/mark off every row!
The wool was too thick and heavy for the pattern
I can now do lacework
I did not blame myself overmuch because it was just fun to see how the pattern would develop
All’s wool that ends wool!
Stitch and Botch! Meeting tomorrow… January 21, 2009
Posted by Terry Patterson in : social Knitworking , add a commentNow I’m a fully fledged Ravelry designer, it’s time to hit London S+B and ask some serious questions! As a sinister knitter, my patterns are coming out in reverse, and for mirror image reflections, I think the slant is going the wrong way, creating unwanted holes in my experiment with lacework. It’s just a bit too mathematical after a hard day at work.
Will upload pictures of my experiment in lacework with wool that is too thick, shortly.

BETT ICT and Education Conference 14-16 January January 18, 2009
Posted by Terry Patterson in : e-Learning Team , 1 comment so farI would love to get feedback on your 3 best discoveries of Bett.
For me, it was
- the potential of e-books, http://istars.education.co.uk

- using film to engage pupils in science, and
- Professor Heppell’s moving and sometimes dark commentary on the last 20 years of ICT.
Heppell, battling with a fever, had just won a lifetime achievement award, and was witty, reflective and passionate in turn.
More on Bett when I have had time to read my notes, but what are your thoughts?
